More about Compariqo

PLEASE NOTE :  As Compariqo's business members change frequently - when new developments start or reach completion - they have elected not to list them in the Approved Code Directory, at this stage. The Compariqo Code of Practice

Image

The Compariqo Code of Practice ensures consumer protection is embedded at every stage of the structural warranty and inspection process. It sets clear expectations for how member businesses must operate — from marketing and sales through to aftercare and dispute resolution. The Code aims to drive up standards across the industry and give consumers confidence in the businesses they choose.

Read the Compariqo Code of Practice

In the structural warranty and inspection sector, poor oversight or unclear obligations can leave consumers exposed — particularly if things go wrong after completion. Compariqo’s strict Code of Practice protects consumers by setting out clear standards for accountability, quality assurance, and customer support, helping prevent issues before they arise.

  • Clear Information: Members must provide accurate and accessible information to consumers before any commitment is made.
  • Technical Oversight: All warranty providers and inspectors must meet defined technical standards, with ongoing quality assurance checks.
  • Fair Sales Practices: Marketing and sales activity must be transparent and not misleading.
  • Customer Support: Businesses must maintain responsive and clearly defined aftercare processes.
  • Dispute Resolution: An accessible and independent complaints process must be available to consumers.
  • Ongoing Monitoring: Members are regularly reviewed to ensure ongoing compliance with the Code.
  • Training and Competence: Staff involved in key areas must be appropriately trained and qualified.

Compariqo members include structural warranty providers and associated businesses that offer building inspections, technical audits, and related services to developers and property buyers. These companies help ensure that homes and buildings are constructed to safe and appropriate standards.

Compariqo members stand out by committing to fairness, technical excellence, and customer transparency — helping consumers avoid hidden pitfalls and enjoy peace of mind.

Compariqo undertakes thorough due diligence before approving any business as a member. This includes checks on financial stability, regulatory status, technical capability, and customer service history.

All members are required to sign up to Compariqo’s Membership Rules and formally commit to adhering to the Consumer Code of Practice as a condition of entry. This ensures they understand and accept the standards expected of them from the outset.

Once accepted, members are subject to ongoing compliance reviews, including annual monitoring, random audits, and mandatory participation in training and improvement initiatives. Any breach of the Code or Membership Rules can lead to disciplinary action — including suspension or removal from the scheme.

What happens if a business breaks the Compariqo Code of Practice?

If a member is found to be in breach of the Code of Practice, Compariqo may take a range of actions — from issuing improvement notices to full suspension or expulsion from the scheme.

While breaches are rare, Compariqo has a clear process for investigation and enforcement. Consumers can be reassured that membership of Compariqo is conditional on maintaining the highest standards. For further information, you can visit the Compariqo website or contact Compariqo at [email protected].

Disputes and Complaints

As a consumer, if you ever enter into a dispute with a business that is a member of Compariqo, the business must offer you Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). This is a simpler, cheaper and faster alternative to going to Court. And the adjudications of the independent ADR body are binding on the business (although you are still free to go to Court afterwards).

Offering customers ADR is a mandatory and non-negotiable requirement for membership of the Approved Code Scheme - ensuring that only the best, most customer-centric businesses remain in the scheme. It also acts as a powerful incentive for any member business to treat you with respect, courtesy and fairness, at all times.

Complain about a Compariqo Member business

If you feel you have been mistreated by a business that is a member of the Approved Code Scheme, there are steps you can take. In the first instance, please reach out to them - explaining the nature of your complaint in clear and unambiguous language, and mentioning that you are aware of their membership of Compariqo and the Approved Code Scheme. In most cases, this approach will ensure your complaint receives proper attention - and, ideally, a resolution will be forthcoming. If you are not happy with the result, they must offer you Alternative Dispute Resolution, or you can request it.

Only if this approach fails to bear fruit should you contact Compariqo, or their nominated ADR body (see their contact details, above) - who will then do their best to help you resolve your dispute with the business.

Compariqo's Advice :

If a customer has a concern or complaint about a Compariqo member, they should first raise the issue directly with the business. If the matter isn’t resolved, the customer can escalate the issue through Compariqo’s independent complaints process. For further information, please see the Compariqo website.
